See, now this is the problem I have with GIFs. People think everything needs a GIF. GIFs are meant to show action. Showing somebody talking is not action. Far too often do people make GIFs from scenes in TV shows and movies where somebody is just stating a line. Now if their facial expression is crucial to conveying the message, I might understand the GIFification, but in this case, what’s the point? A simple screenshot with the text overlayed would have given me the same information. Instead, my system has to download a few extra kilobytes of data so that his lips can move meaninglessly. I have gained nothing from being able to see his jaw line move a few times.

Plot twist: I am the OP. But yeah, I get your point that “guy saying a sentence” gifs usually fall flat unless there’s a mannerism or element of acting that comes through much better in motion. My main post gif had a little of that (Dwight’s smug/deranged way of speaking), but probably not enough to justify the gif.
